With on average just 8 participants at a retreat, the programs are flexible to allow guests to tailor the experience to suit their individual requirements. Typically they include twice daily yoga classes (with options for beginners through to experienced practitioners), therapeutic treatments such as massage, wellness sessions including ayurveda and nutrition plus workshops on philosophy, meditation and mindfulness. Byron Yoga Centre offers 3, 5, 7 and 8 Day Retreats, as well as specific Women’s Yoga retreats and Yoga teacher training (both Level 1 & 2 intensive courses)

A typical day at the retreat starts with the choice of a beach walk and dip in the ocean or joining the flow yoga class. Guests then enjoy a delicious, healthy breakfast, followed by a wellness session on a health related topic such as nutrition or perhaps a cooking class. Round off the morning by choosing to join a yoga class or to swim some laps in the heated mineral salt pool before your nutritious and tasty lunch. Afternoons at the Retreat is the time for you to kick back and relax, unwind and perhaps enjoy one of your complimentary massage treatments. This is also the opportunity to explore the local area, chill out at the beach or book into an exciting activity such as surfing or kayaking. Post wholesome dinner, the evening program includes teachings on nutrition and healthy eating, guided meditations promoting deep relaxation, plus film and music sessions.

Facilities

The Byron Yoga Retreat centre is home to a 20 metre solar heated swimming pool, three yoga studios, a relaxing dining area with indoor and outdoor seating and abundant organic gardens – a paradise within paradise! The centre strives to be as sustainable as possible and has rainwater tanks, compost toilets,with most of the hot water coming from a solar heating system. The Retreat also offers a full range of treatments within its Wellness centre, including massage (deep tissue, remedial, Ayurvedic, relaxation, Reiki, Thai yoga, intuitive touch, emotional detox and aroma massage), ayurvedic Consultations, deep cleansing facials, salt scrubs and waxing packages.

If you fancy venturing out of the retreat, it is in easy walking distance of Byron Bay town centre and the beautiful beaches. Major attractions include walking the iconic lighthouse trail, dolphin and whale watching, hanging out in cafes and browsing the unique shops. Popular events are the Thursday morning Farmers Market, the monthly Sunday Craft Market and in the summer months, the Saturday Artisan Market. If you’re feeling a little more adventurous you can choose to book organised activities such as surfing lessons, kayaking, scuba diving or even skydiving.

Food & Drink

All meals are fully inclusive of and consist of delicious vegetarian meals, created with locally produced and organic ingredients where possible – often sourced from the centre’s own organic garden. Retreat guests have complimentary juices in the morning breaks and for all guests there is a selection of herbal teas and fruit available throughout the day.

Dietary restrictions including gluten free, vegan, dairy free and any specific allergies can be catered for – just let the retreat know any requests at time of booking. The site is vegetarian and alcohol / drug free.

Accommodation

Accommodation is simple, with small bedrooms, not to distract from the stunning natural surroundings. Twin share rooms with a shared bathroom are the standard inclusion for all retreats, but the centre also has single rooms with a shared bathroom, or single ensuites available, subject to an extra fee and availability. Guests can choose their rooming option when registering.
