Wild Self Yoga is a school for yogis looking to deepen their own practice, tune into the Yogic lifestyle and learn to teach under expert guidance. With a 12 student maximum on all trainings, Wild Self ensure that each student experiences individual attention & extensive practice teaching time. All 200hr trainings include unique modules; and a focus on functional movement anatomy, taught practically by their highly trained movement specialist.

This course is open to students of all levels, although a minimum of one years practice prior to enrollment is generally required. The retreat invites not only to those who wish to become certified yoga teachers, but any aspiring yogi wishing to extensively enrich their personal practice and more fully integrate yoga into their own lives. Students will come away confident to teach safe and authentic Yoga, equipped with practical tools and knowledge to share classes, workshops and retreats. Internationally certified with Yoga Alliance, trainee’s will be able to teach anywhere in the world. For those who are not necessarily looking to teach professionally, you will find in this course a transformative journey of self-inquiry and increased self-awareness. Programmes & Offerings

Based around a practical curriculum that approaches yoga systematically, Wild Self believe in creating strong foundations for teaching safely and authentically. Drawing from traditional Hatha and Vinyasa yoga, the course will be exploring yoga as a holistic approach – combining traditional teachings with modern science. It is important to note that the approach is traditional, but appropriated to modern times and no specific ‘style’ or single lineage of Yoga is followed.

The curriculum at Wild Self Yoga covers:

Practical – Authentic foundations of Hatha yoga asanas, Traditional Vinyasa yoga and modern variations, Asana clinic: Alignment, adjustments & modifications, Asana breakdown: Physical & energetic, Pranayama workshops: Techniques & benefits, Meditation: Active & passive techniques, philosophy & methodology, Yoga Nidra: Practice & theory, Shatkarma: Cleansing practices, Mudra, Bandha

Anatomy – Taught by our anatomy specialist with a practical and functional approach. Modules include The 11 systems of the body: Applied to yoga, Functional movement anatomy: How and why the body moves, Anatomy of the breath, Energetic anatomy: Chakras, Nadis & the Koshas

Philosophy & Lifestyle – History of yoga, Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, The Eight limbs of Yoga, Taking yoga off the mat, Ayurveda: Theory, self care & nutrition​

Teaching Methodology – The four tools of teaching, Sequencing methodology, Lead up to teaching your own 60 minute class, Finding your unique voice, Sanskrit, Learn to teach pranayama, relaxation & meditation, Assisting and adjusting mindfully, Introduction to prenatal yoga, Introduction to teaching children’s yoga workshop, Introduction to trauma sensitive yoga, Ethics as a yoga teacher

Extra techniques – Nada yoga (yoga of sound), Trauma informed yoga, Kirtan, Ecstatic dance evening meditation sessions, Employment pathways as a yoga teacher

Facilities

Wild Self Yoga trainings are all-inclusive. This means accommodation, three healthy vegetarian meals a day, teas, coffee and water, tuition, Wild Self Yoga’s comprehensive manual and a welcome goodie bag!

Wallum Cottages are the home for the training. A family run venue set on 70 acres of native bushland just a short stroll from the ocean, this coastal oasis provides the perfect balance of privacy and accessibility to a number of unspoilt empty beaches. The venue will be transformed into a private yoga centre with training taking place in self-contained cabins spread throughout the property, shared meals will be enjoyed in the cosy cabins and evenings will be spent out by the fire under the stars. The area is yours to explore during free time, a visit to town, a bush walk, surf or swim at the beach just a moment away.

Food & Drink

A full menu of beautiful vegetarian whole foods will be provided during the course. Catered for by a designated in house chef, all food is local & sustainably sourced and organic where possible and a Yogi style menu, blended with contemporary cuisine is followed. Every meal is light, fresh, wholesome and tasty, as well as predominantly gluten, dairy and refined-sugar free. Accommodation

​All accommodation is in the cosy Wallum Cottages, set within 70 acres of bushland. Fall asleep to the sound of the ocean and be woken by the kookaburras, enjoy a complete back to nature experience.
