The Maleny Yoga Zen Retreat is located only 8km from Maleny and 1.5 hours north of Brisbane, and offers a Yoga, Meditation and Zen Knowledge program for students from beginners to intermediate levels. The Retreat is designed to promote clarity and well-being in body, mind, and spirit. It is designed to help you achieve a feeling of peace of mind, with focus on finding a state of stillness and silence within.  A quiet retreat away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, giving a break from the “day in, day out” duties of life. The program is based on ancient yogic Veda practices, Zen Buddhist teachings, and mindfulness meditation. Guests can join in with as little or as many sessions as they require to find the peace and tranquility of mind that we are all searching for.

The Zen Centres’ retreats focus on finding contentment in life through the philosophy of yoga and Zen, understanding how our mind works, meditation & mindfulness, living Yoga & Zen and the realisation that life is an illusion. As well as running courses on set dates, a 2 or 3 night retreat can be run exclusively for groups of 10 people anytime when a retreat is not booked. From the moment you step out of the car, you will feel the compassion and contentment, that is wrapped around this property and greeted by smiling hosts. As you gaze around you will feel the peace and tranquility of the parkland gardens and the panoramic views. Meeting just a small handful of other guests, you will be sure to make new friends, relax and recapture the true essence of your very being and take home with you a new meaning to your life.

The program at Maleny Yoga Zen Retreat runs the Yoga and Zen proponents harmoniously, with a 3, 4 & 7 day retreat running most months.

The retreat offers the following programmes:

4 Day Zen Buddhist & Yoga Retreat – Beginners to Intermediate

The retreat’s most popular offering, the Zen Buddhist and Yoga Retreat program allows you an introduction to Buddhist and Yoga concepts and allows you the time to reflect and contemplate amidst one acre of gardens where the grounds change as the sun passes over.  You may wish to find yourself a quiet corner to practice deeper meditation, read, snooze or go for a walk.  The retreat provides full days of activities and plenty of time with the teachers or your own contemplation. The key focus of this retreat is to simply show you how to live your life with less suffering.

3 Day Zen Buddhist & Yoga Retreats – Beginners to Intermediate

3 Day Silent Retreats – A silent retreat gives you the space to contemplate and reflect on your own life & inner self and maybe your journey ahead to a more contented place.  The Zen Centre is a peaceful space to rest and just be with yourself.  A time to develop personal qualities of non-judgement, trust & honesty, patience & tolerance, and resting in the stability of mind.

3 Day Zen, Tai Chi & Meditation Retreat – To contemplate the depth and way of mind through meditation, allows us to make mindful choices in the way we react to different situations in life.  Watching how our mind works, we can see antidotes to our habitual nature. Zen & Tai Chi are more than the meditation on the mat, it is the way we live.
7 Day Zen Buddhist & Yoga Retreats – Beginners to Intermediate
This retreat is designed to promote clarity and well-being in body, mind, and spirit. It is designed to help you achieve a feeling of peace of mind, with focus on finding a state of stillness and silence within.  A quiet retreat away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, giving a break from the “day in, day out” duties of life. The program is based on ancient yogic Veda practices, Zen Buddhist teachings, and mindfulness meditation.
The yoga asana portion of the program will aid with the improvement of the physical health of the body and strengthen the spirit so that you become aware of the interaction between body, mind, and Self.  The yoga asana sessions are not about how flexible you are but where the mind is when holding a pose.  The aim is to move every joint for lubrication, mobilisation and longevity. The Zen portion of the program will bring clarity to the mind and knowledge. Understanding will result in wisdom and will further strengthen the spirit. In the evenings, activities are offered such as Singing Bowl Meditation, Yoga Nidra, Movie nights and Zen Armchair chats.

Food & Drink

The Zen Centre aims to cater to vegetarian, vegan and gluten free diets, with most meals able to be adapted for these dietary requirements.1 weeks notice is required prior to arrival to ensure that all the products required are at hand. Breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack and dinner will all be provided.

Accommodation

The retreat offers a range of room sizes with shared bathroom facilities. A maximum of 2 guests are allowed per room during any retreat program, with a maximum of one guest in each of the Garden Rooms. Three people booking together can choose to book the Kintamani ensuite room but please be aware of the bedding arrangements of 1 single + 1 double.
