Good For
Men & Women who are interested in a mental and physical health challenge to bring you to a state of ultimate health and full reset on a juice only detox.
Overview
Byron Bay Detox Retreat was hosted by Natalie Purcell (B.Nat, I-ACT), who is one of Australia’s leading detox specialists and has studied and practised widely across natural and traditional therapies. She leads a dedicated team of naturopaths and therapists that guide and support each attendee on their detoxification journey.
Her nature is perfect for this type of retreat, making every person feel special, relaxed and important during their journey. It can be an intense journey with no food for 5 days and different treatments throughout the week and Nat along with all of her therapists were great at guiding and managing each attendees journey according to their individual experience.
Staff/Service
It is clear that Nat only works with the best in each field, with her regular staff who were available throughout the week to have consults and assist with each persons detox journey. The staffing team extended from experts in sound healing, Wimhoff breath work and ice baths, meditation, yoga, healthy eating, naturopath and more.
Accommodation
Each cabin was nestled on the beach at the far end of Suffolk Park, Byron Bay. There were a mix of cabins with luscious green private backyards, cottages with views over the salt lakes, and luxury units perched above the main building with sunrise and sunset views. Each cabin had a minimum of 2 rooms to accommodate for privacy with shared bathroom, through to larger houses with fully equiped kitchens, decking and private access. Each room had a queen – king size bed with all bedding, toiletries and towels provided.
Food
This was a 5 day juice only detox, therefore no food was provided from check in on Sunday through to Friday morning when we broke the fast and introduced healthy food. When we first arrived we were talked through how the fast would work and what to expect each day with the included juices, broths and supplements.
Each day consisted of 3 vegetable juices, one protein shake and a large bowl of broth at the end of the day. In between each juice you are given a comprehensive list of supplements to take to help aid the cleansing journey, things like Chlorophyl, Heavy Metal Cleanse, Parasite Cleanse and more. Initially when you compare this intake to your normal 3 meals a day you would assume you would really struggle and be hungry however this plan has been created in a way that you still get the nutrients you need and restart your body and gut health while not completely eliminating consuming something.
The retreat catered to all the needs of the attendees, with one of our team members having a fruit allergy so the apples were removed from the juices and in some instances protein powder added to smoothies from the guests who brought their own powder. It is important to be very open minded and prepare for a rewarding mental challenge with this retreat and its detoxification process.
On the Friday after completing 5 days of no food and juice only fasting we were presented with a delicious spread of papaya fruit bowl for breakfast, Wholesome nourish bowl for lunch and a 2 course meal for dinner.
Offerings & Activities
Each evening we were given a schedule to our itinerary for the next day with 2 infrared saunas & 2 colonics included in every retreat package and the optional extras such as massages of all kinds (holistic, relaxation, chakra, Kahuna), EFT treatment, Psychotherapy, life coaching, hydrotherapy and more. In between your scheduled activities each day there was plenty of time to read, relax, enjoy the beach and go for a walk in your own time.
At the end of the week when we broke the fast we had a cooking demonstration of some quick healthy meals we could incorporate into our lives which was helpful to stimulate ideas of how we would take what we have learnt from the retreat back into our lives.
Facilities
You are living right on the beach during your whole stay and it was encouraged to get Vitamin D, beach walks and swims as often as possible. Outside of natures playground you could relax in the communal areas or back in your accommodation which all were equiped with comfortable outdoor setting, private yards and other luxuries to encourage the ultimate relaxation.
